    Concept-
    -Poultry is the class of domesticated fowl (birds) used for food or for their eggs.
    -They typically include chicken and ducks, and sometimes turkey and geese.
    -The word poultry is often used to refer to the meat of only these birds, but in a more general sense, it may refer to the meat of other birds too.
    -As in dairy farming, selection of disease-free and suitable breeds, proper and safe farm conditions, proper feed and water, and hygiene and health care are important components of poultry farm management.

    Bird flu –
    -Bird flu is an infection caused by avian influenza viruses.
    -This virus is also known by the name H5N1.

    Ranikhet disease –
    -Ranikhet disease is caused by a paramyxovirus of the genus Rubulavirus.
    -It is a highly infectious and fatal disease seen in fowls.
    -It is also known as Newcastle disease.

    -Salmonella typhi is a pathogenic bacterium that causes typhoid fever in human beings.
    -These pathogens generally enter the small intestine through food and water contaminated with them and migrate to other organs through blood.
    -Sustained high fever (39° to 40°C), weakness, stomach pain, constipation, headache, and loss of appetite are some of the common symptoms of this disease.
    -Intestinal perforation and death may occur in severe cases.
    -Typhoid fever could be confirmed by the Widal test.
