PURA Scheme was the brain child of: (JRF Soacial Science 2017)

✅Explanation:
The PURA (Providing Urban Amenities to Rural Areas) scheme was indeed envisioned by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He believed in empowering rural India by bridging the gap between urban and rural areas through the provision of essential infrastructure and services.
-He proposed the concept of PURA in the VISION 2020 project initiated by him.
-Its goal and objectives are to provide India with new heights and achievements, developed status and economy.  
-Ministry of Rural Development is implementing the PURA scheme on a pilot basis.
-The objective of PURA – Provision of livelihood opportunities and urban amenities in rural areas to bridge the rural-urban divide.
-It covers Sewerage, Construction and maintenance of Village Streets, Drainage, Solid Waste Management etc.
