National Seed Research and Training Centre (NSRTC), Varanasi
→ The NSRTC, located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has been operational since October 2005 and was notified as the Central Seed Testing and Referral Laboratory (CSTL) from 01.04.2007.
→ The primary objective of CSTL, NSRTC is to maintain uniformity in seed testing and ensure the supply of quality seeds at the National level. It also serves as a Referral Laboratory under the Court of Law for seed-related issues.
→ NSRTC is a leading institute for capacity building and maintaining Seed Quality Assurance by offering HRD activities throughout the year.
→ The CSTL under NSRTC has been a member laboratory of the International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) since 2007.

📌 Important Points
→ During 2018-19 (till December 2018), NSRTC received:
→ 16650 seed samples under the 5% re-testing programme
→ 48 seed samples referred by Court
→ 9 seed samples under the PT programme from ISTA, Switzerland.
→ In 2018-19 (till 15th January 2019), NSRTC organized 08 National Training Programmes on various seed-related issues for stakeholders from the Government, Public, and Private sectors.
