→ Maize is the main Kharif crop.
→ It is used as a food grain in southern Rajasthan.
→ Development of an advanced variety of maize is done in the All India Coordinated Maize Improvement Project, Udaipur, and Agricultural Research Center, Banswara.
→ Climate and Land: 50 to 80 cm rainfall and temperatures between 12° to 35°C are suitable for its production. Maize is also produced in less fertile and uneven land.
→ Main Producing Districts: Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Banswara, Dungarpur, Bundi, Jhalawar, Baran, Sirohi, Bhilwara, Kota, and Rajsamand.
→ Improved Varieties: Mahi Kanchan and Mahi Dhawal.
