  • What are the major uses of potassium nitrate?

Question: What are the major uses of potassium nitrate?

    Options:

    In making medicine
In manufacturing work in fertilizer factories
    In the manufacture of salt
    In the manufacture of glass

    🔑Key Points:
-One naturally occurring mineral source of nitrogen is the chemical compound potassium nitrate.
-It has the chemical formula KNO3 and is a nitrate.
-By adding strong sulfuric acid to an aqueous solution of potassium nitrate, nitric acid and potassium sulfate are produced, which are then separated using fractional distillation, making this one of the most practical uses of potassium nitrate.
-It is used as a form of fertiliser as it contains all the macronutrients needed for plants to grow.
-Other applications for potassium nitrate include model rocket propellant, and a variety of fireworks, including smoke bombs.
-Potassium Nitrate is also the main component in stump remover; it accelerates the natural decomposition of the stump.
-Some toothpaste for sensitive teeth contain it, and it has also been used in the production of ice cream.
